While electric vehicles used to be expensive and hard to find, these days you can find an electric or hybrid model in the lineups of all the most popular automakers. Whether it’s a sports car, a pickup truck, or even a passenger bus, if you can name it, there’s probably an electrified version of it!
Land Rover currently offers several mild-hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) to choose from, with the first-ever fully-electric Range Rover arriving in 2024. No matter if you choose a hybrid or electric vehicle, you’ll be getting better performance and more efficiency than a traditional gas-powered vehicle. Hybrid vehicles run simultaneously on an internal combustion engine and an electric motor, dramatically improving their fuel efficiency and, in the case of plug-in hybrids, allowing you to cruise short distances without ever using a drop of gasoline! For example, the 2023 Range Rover plug-in hybrid earns up to 50 MPG on the highway, while the standard gas-powered model earns 26 MPG. The Range Rover PHEV also has a fully electric range of 51 miles, so if you’re just taking your vehicle on short trips around Aurora, you may end up using almost no gasoline!
Electric vehicles take things even further, with all the power coming from an electric motor and battery. This allows for lightning-fast acceleration, near-instantaneous torque, and a smooth, agile ride over all types of terrain. There’s also almost no cabin noise since there’s no internal combustion engine under the hood!
If you upgrade to a hybrid vehicle, you can enjoy improved efficiency and savings on gas without having to change up your driving routine too much. You can still stop for gas, you’ll just be using much less!
EVs, on the other hand, need to be plugged in to recharge the battery, which cuts out the cost of gas entirely. In fact, the EPA estimates that EV drivers end up spending less per year on charging than other drivers spend on gasoline! There’s also the federal tax credit for electric vehicles, which offers up to $7,500 for eligible vehicles, and the Colorado state electric vehicle tax credit, which offers up to $5,000. And since electric vehicles have far fewer moving parts than their gasoline counterparts, you can say goodbye to paying for things like oil changes.
