Range Rovers have all of the modern, luxury amenities drivers want, yet they are built for off-road adventures, whether you’re headed to a secluded mountain lake for fishing or your favorite ski destination. But what about speed? Did you know the 2023 Range Rover Velar can go pretty fast when needed? Well, you will soon!
The team at Land Rover Denver believes the 2023 Range Rover Velar is more than just for traversing Broomfield or Aurora roads and highways, and it can certainly go places that other SUVs can’t. It’s fantastic for commutes, weekly shopping trips, mountain camping, and cross-country summer vacations. To see if this is your adventuring and all-purpose vehicle, read on to discover more about the 2023 Range Rover Velar’s engine capabilities and how fast this rugged SUV goes.
The 2023 Range Rover Velar has several trims and two basic engine types.
MHEV stands for mild hybrid electric vehicle. Electrical power assists the main engine by helping the vehicle during braking, coasting, or idling. This saves you on fuel costs so you don’t have to worry about stopping at the pumps in Westminster too frequently.
The 2023 Range Rover Velar horsepower numbers follow along with the engine types. The non-MHEV engine generates 247 hp while the MHEV on the R-Dynamic S goes up to 335 hp and the MHEV on the HST trim reaches 395 hp.
2023 Range Rover Velar 0-60
Acceleration is where the 2023 Range Rover Velar showcases some surprising things. These sporty SUVs can accelerate to 60 mph pretty fast for a vehicle designed for off-roading at its core. The models with the 2.0L P250 engine can go from 0-60 mph in 7.1 seconds.
The excitement begins when you select the MHEV engines. The top two trims with the 3.0L MHEV engines can accelerate even faster than the gas-only models. A 2023 Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic S with the MHEV reaches 60 mph in 6.0 seconds. So, a larger engine and electric assist are faster compared to the gas-only models.
What’s even better? You can almost shave two full seconds off of the slowest 0-60 time with the Velar HST. That trim reaches 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Not bad for an SUV known for going where other SUVs can’t reach!
The top trim of the 2023 Range Rover Velar also reaches the highest speed. This vehicle is rated to max out at 135 mph. We certainly don’t recommend driving at 135 mph on the roads. However, if you find yourself on the track, you are in for an exciting experience.
