Check Your Tires Each Month

What is one of the best ways to ensure your tires are in good condition? Perform a monthly tire inspection. This task can be completed in as little as ten minutes.

The first step we recommend is checking your tire pressure. This is true even if your vehicle features a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Before you attempt to manually check your tire pressure, you want to be sure your tires are “cold.” If you drove recently, the heat generated could temporarily increase tire pressure. Try and wait a few hours after you last drove the vehicle to get the most accurate reading. If your tires are properly inflated, you are good to go. If not, gradually add air until you hit the manufacturer’s recommendations.

It is also a good idea to regularly inspect your tires for wear. Do you notice any gashes or cracks? What about embedded objects? It is also important to look at wear patterns. Why is this? Uneven wear patterns could be a sign of issues like overinflated tires, misaligned wheels, or suspension problems.

How to Check Land Rover Tire Tread

Learn how to check Land Rover tire tread with a simple penny test.

Place your penny into a tread groove upside down.
Look to see if you can see the top of Lincoln’s head. If it is visible, your tires have a tread depth that’s below the minimum recommendation of 2/32”. This means it’s time to replace your tires.
Repeat the penny test on all tires and in multiple locations on each tire.

Range Rover Tire PSI Guide

Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles have different tire pressure recommendations. This is why we always recommend taking a look at your owner’s manual. For example, a recent model-year Defender 110 has a recommended tire pressure of 47 PSI for the front tires and 50 PSI for the rear tires. A recent model-year Discovery Sport has a recommendation of 50 PSI for both the front and rear tires. These variations make it difficult to give a one-size-fits-all recommendation for the Land Rover and Range Rover lineups.
